Canaan Smith – Like You That Way

Canaan Smith is from Williamsburg, Virginia, but now lives in Nashville. He has toured with some major Country acts like Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley, and Florida Georgia Line. In addition, he has also written songs for the likes of Love and Theft, Cole Swindell, and more. His songs embody the most compelling part of Country music – storytelling. His latest release called “Like You That Way” is yet another great example of this.

“Like You That Way” is a fun song that’s just in time for summer. The imagery is instantly captivating when he sings “you ticked off your dad when you got a little heart shaped tat/ right there in the middle of your back.” In the chorus, he sings out “you’re Miranda Lambert crazy but I like you that way,” the perfect hook for Country music fans to belt out in the car… or at a concert. The production is filled with playful moments, like whistling in the background. Smith’s music pays homage to the roots of Country music, while creating a relevant message in a modern digital world.
