Maddie Larkin is a singer/songwriter based out of Nashville. Her debut single is called “45.”
In her single, Larkin blissfully and artfully mixes country melodies with pop production and hooks. Her voice is fervent as she sings out the quick, rhythmic chorus concluding with the line, “All of a sudden my heart is beating 100 miles per hour even though we’re only going 45.” The post-chorus hook is reminiscent of pop powerhouses such as Rihanna or Katy Perry or Ellie Goulding. It’s almost impossible to not feel her heartbreaking honesty as she sings, “This hometown don’t feel like home anymore.” Overall, the song works across the genres and feels good with its artful lyrics and easygoing production.
