Our top 10 women in Country music have well deserved the title of being our top picks for the summer! Each woman has been an incredible songwriter and accurately represents women in Country music. Whether their name is known or not, we feel that these women are up and coming artists in Country music and are a strong unit for more substantial music to come! Here are our top 10 (in no particular order) and let us know what you guys think!
Brooke Ansley is a Country musician from Taylorsville, Maryland, and is now located in Los Angeles, California. Ansley is no stranger to the spotlight, previously being named Miss Maryland and having competed in the Miss America pageant. She says that she, “brings the attitude of a new-age feminist.” Her newest song “Whiskey Wednesday” sounds like a cross between Maren Morris and Kelsea Ballerini with Meghan Trainor, with a strong yet quirky feel.
Brooke Eden is an up and coming Country singer/songwriter originally from Loxahatchee, Florida. She first started taking up singing and songwriting at the age of four and hasn’t stopped chasing her dream since. The rising Country star is currently based out of Nashville where she spends her time performing shows and opening up for big names like: Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, and Sugarland.
Carly Pearce is no stranger to Country music, and since her upbringing in the Bluegrass state of Kentucky she has been surrounded with the ‘twang-twang’ music. She began touring at the tender age of 11 and by the age of 16 she relocated so that she could perform at Dollywood. She is a CMT Next Women of Country Alum and has been invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry over 30 times with notable artists like Hunter Hayes, Kip Moore, and Eli Young Band.
Although Kelleigh Bannen grew up in Music City, USA, she didn’t begin pursuing a music career until the age of 20. After starting up her own jewelry line and finding success with that, her husband convinced her to take some time off and focus solely on music. In 2008, Bannen released an independent album, Radio Skies, after assembling her first band. This album then led her to be signed to EMI Nashville.
The season 10 runner up of American Idol Lauren Alaina is blazing a trail towards radio and success with her debut EP Next Boyfriend. She is Pop country in every way, yet while still keeping a foot planted in southern country which is seeming to make for a great recipe to success. This Roseville, GA local definitely has the eyes and ears of Nashville on her, and it doesn’t seem like anything can slow her down.
Born and raised in Nashville, Lindsay Ell has had Country music coursing through her veins since she came into this world. At an early age she learned to play the guitar and piano as she travelled around to Country/Bluegrass camps with her father. Ell brings excitement and a warm presence along with her talents in singing and songwriting. Additionally, her experience within the music realm has helped her to prepare for any obstacles that may come her way.
Maggie Rose began her music career as the lead singer of a rock cover band known as Maggie Rose & The Morrison Brothers, and then found herself as the next up and coming country act after she moved to Nashville. Rose’s business partner, Tom Natelli, got her in contact with Tommy Mottola who has worked with the likes of Celine Dion and Mariah Carey, and Mottola gifted Rose with all of his country contacts and advice he could give her so she would have the capabilities of taking over the Nashville scene.
Nikki Lane is known as a rising star in Country music who is based in the songwriting rich town of Nashville. She grew up in South Carolina where she learned what hard work looked like from her dad. He taught her how to be tough and she knew that nothing in life would ever get handed to her. She admits that a lot of inspiration for her music comes from broken relationships, but what better way to get through them than to write a hit about them?
Olivia Lane is a Tennessee-based singer/songwriter originally from Texas. She is such a refreshing soul with an optimistic attitude about life. After she graduated from USC she found her way to Tennessee where she hooked up with fellow songwriters to help get her creative juices flowing. She learned just how gifted she was with providing inspirational lyrics and a positive attitude to go with it. Thus, giving her remarkable stage presence others can be inspired by. There is a raspy roughness to RaeLynn‘s expertly delivered vocals. With a Maren Morris like edginess, RaeLynn is bringing the Country music scene a much needed jolt. With a sweet face and genuine heart, it is hard not to fall in love with her and all she stands for. Her accolades are a mile a long, and are also an indicator that RaeLynn in no passing fad. From Radio Disney awards to touring with Blake Shelton, RaeLynn is on a trajectory that is only pointed upwards.
